Meters & Emergency Providers

To work as an Emergency Service Operative a Gas Engineer must obtain the core assessment CMA1/MET2, CESP1 or changeover from Domestic Core CODNESP1.

Engineers must obtain the Meter core qualification, CMA1 before proceeding to the other meter related qualifications.

Further information on each course can be obtained by clicking on the course list noted on the left.  Candidates may also be interested in the Non-Domestic Pipework qualifications, details of which can be found in the Non-Domestic Natural Gas section.

Access to all of the courses is not open to everyone. Candidates who wish to enroll for a core qualification must be able to demonstrate that they hold the qualifications, or have the relevant experience to be classified as either Category 1 or Category 2.

Candidates who are New to the Industry without the necessary qualifications can still arrange to work towards achieving the requirements necessary to gain entry to CMA1/MET2 or CESP1.  Each candidate would be assessed individually and should contact us to discuss their circumstances.

Training is styled as refresher training and is presented at different levels depending on the category of the candidates.

While we would recommend that all candidates make use of the training, candidates may opt to progress direct to the assessment stage without the training. The assessment stage cannot be by-passed, as the candidates must be assessed on their knowledge and competence if they are to gain the recognised qualification.

The vast majority of Category 2 Candidates should expect to be required to undertake the training element of the course.
