Non-Domestic Natural Gas
To work with natural gas in a non-domestic environment, candidates must obtain the Core qualification COCN1 or CODNCO1 (Changeover) before they can proceed to the qualifications required to install or maintain individual appliances.

Access to the courses is not open to everyone; candidates must be qualified or experienced to be classified as either Category 1 or Category 2 if they wish to work towards COCN1.
Candidates not requiring full qualification, but seeking authorisation to work can gain partial qualification as a Limited Scope candidate through COCNPI LS and ICPN1LS.
Candidates who are New to the Industry without the necessary qualifications can still arrange to work towards entry to COCN1. Each candidate would be assessed individually and should contact us to discuss their circumstances.
Training is styled as refresher training and is presented at different levels depending on the category of the candidates.
While we would recommend that all candidates make use of the training, candidates may opt to progress direct to the assessment stage without the training. The assessment stage cannot be by-passed as the candidates must be assessed on their knowledge and competence if they are to gain the recognised qualification.
The vast majority of Category 2 Candidates should expect to be required to undertake the training element of the course.

TPCP1A - Soundness Test/Purging < 1m3This Gas Safety Assessment is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of testing and direct purging of small low pressure commercial gas installations by practical and knowledge and understanding assessment.
Range of qualification - Testing and direct purging of pipework (or sections of pipework) downstream of a primary meter control valve having:-
- a volume not exceeding 1m3 including any meter and any allowance for fittings
- an operating pressure not exceeding 21mbar (nominal) at the outlet of the primary meter regulator
- a diameter not exceeding 150 mm
- the operating pressure at the inlet of the primary meter regulator does not exceed 75 mbar
NB These procedures can also be used for pipework exceeding 28 mm diameter on domestic premises
